Default 09 Streetglide Brakelight Problem

A buddy of mine is having trouble with his brakelight on his 09 Streetglide, it has LED tail/with the run/brake on his turn signals.

Problem is his brake light stays on for a couple minutes after hitting either front or rear brakes. After a couple minutes it gradually starts dimming back to the tail light but it transitions very slow and takes a minute or two to go from brake light back to tail light. The turn signal brake lights go out immediately as they should, it's just the center (tail/brake) light and as mentioned happens whether you use front or rear.

Anyone have this trouble before? Sound like an issue with the light unit itself or maybe in the load equalizer?

He mentioned that right before this he started having an issue when he would use his turn signal his indicator would blink about 3 times as usual then would rapid flash like when a bulb is out. He said all lights were working and when the brake light issue started the turn signal issue went away, I thought of a ground issue but I've never seen a brake light problem like that from a bad ground.

It will probably be the weekend before I get a chance to look at it for him, he lives a couple hours away. I was just trying to think of things he could check himself before I get there.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I would suspect an issue with the load equalizer because when they start going bad, they do crazy things. But, I would check the brake relay first just to rule it out. If I remember correctly, it is #16.

He had another tail light and he tried it on there tonight. It had the same issue so that rules out the light itself. I told him to check the relay you mentioned. If it isn't the relay, I suspect it will be the load equalizer.

Just to update, Turns out it was the load equalizer. Problem solved.
