87 sporty turn signal issue

If a PO removed all the lights he probably also removed the flasher unit which makes the signal lights flash. When new your bike had push-button flashers, which you had to hold down to keep the flashers working. These days we can buy a module that will allow you to press once, to start the flashers, then press again to turn them off. Much more civilised! Badlands Motorcycle Products is a popular brand, although there may be others.

thabk you so I held down the push button and the back flashers worked while held but still no flash in front just the run lights maybe I'll look into the handle buttons you're talking about and maybe have to get more power somehow

Your flasher unit is working properly, as are the handlebar switches, we know this because the rear lights are flashing when you press the turn signal button.
The problem is in the wiring to the front turn signals, it is not a ground problem (we know it is not a ground issue because the front running lights are working).
