Default Are voltage regulator connectors propriatary?

I need to relocate the mount of my regulator on my '16 Dyna, which will require a couple more inches then the existing harnesses provide. I reached out to a couple of vendors who fab custom harnesses and one said they can't get the connectors, and the other never replied.

The service manual lists them as 2 and 3 position "Dekka" connectors, which I too can't find anywhere on the Google.

Wondering if these are made for HD exclusively. I have my doubts that with the dozens of existing connectors already made, that HD would design and have manufactured a simple 2 and 3 conductor weather proof connector. But stranger things have happened.

Before anyone suggests "just splice in some length" - of course I could do that, but i expect with the first electrical warranty problem I had, my warranty would be "bye bye"...

Thanks.

That is going to be a tough one to find as you have already discovered. These VR's were probably manufactured by someone other than Harley. Is there any distinguishing marks or part numbers on them?

I would visit a couple of service shops, and see if the had a VR that was bad, and cut the connectors off of that to make your own pigtail.

Go have a chat with the local service department about what your wanting to do and the splicing issue, I've moved regulators by the splice method before and done properly it works fine but possible future warranty never came into it.

I would think that if you did a good quality splice, there shouldn't be any warranty issue. And:
- Use the same or one guage heavier wire.
- use the "Lineman's splice".
- Heatshrink around each wire.
- Heatshrink around the whole bundle.
- Protective sheathing on the whole harness.

Note: you have to install the heatshrink, and the sheathing before connecting the wires. Then slide the tubing in place and shrink with a heat gun, lighter, etc.

I would do the wire splice also, but if you want the connectors try Digikey and Mouser. If you can't find it there then it's probably not available to the public...
