Turn signal not working

Turn signal not working
I have a 92 FLSTC. Left turn signal stopped working. All bulbs are good (swapped them with right side and they work fine on that side). Sockets are reading good ground. With battery disconnected I removed turn signal cover and ohm'ed out switch (across 2 wires going to switch). I'm reading almost a dead short w/o depressing the switch. When i press the switch it goes to full short. I unplugged the wiring harness going to the turn signal module and then retested the switch. The switch appears to be working fine now (open when not pressed and dead short when pressed). I cleaned the all pins and socket connections on module, reconnected and still see short at switch w/o pressing switch. I'm thinking that I have a bad turn signal module but wanted to check you guys before spending $152 for a new one.

Lets forget the term almost dead short and dead short...
You are using some confusing terminology, a short is when the power finds a way back to ground, before it gets to the component it is supposed to power, that is not what is happening here.
When reading a switch, you read open and closed.
Pop the fuel tanks off, and unplug the connector for the left hand switches, the connector is near the steering head.
Connect your ohmmeter to the green wire and the violet wire, and read the switch.
This will tell you if the problem is between the connector and the switch, let us know how this reads, we can go from there.
