Default Help. New member from WV

Hope I posted in right thread. I have an 08 XL883 sportster. It has been garaged for about 2 years started about 2 times a month. My speedometer got broke and got water in it so I just recently got the 7900274 replacement. I followed all instructions for new install. I received the OK . I installed it and my mileage is showing 235855 and I only have 7200 on the bike. Had a replacement sent went through process again sane result. Any ideas? All help is appreciated. Thanks

You probably need to put about 32 miles on it to marry to your ECM. Then its locked to your bike.

Sure its not set to km instead of miles? Numbers still wouldn't be right though. Pretty sure mine showed proper miles before the "marriage".

Default Yes

Yes. I checked both several times. I'm afraid to ride the bike the 31 miles because I don't want to take the chance of it being bad and not taking it back. From what I've found mileage should be spot on once ecm downloads info.

I think Smokey nailed it. As I recall they give you 30 miles to make sure it works before it marries to the bike.
