Can't get my (56512-08A) heated grips working.
I changed handlebars on my 2016 Heritage (TBW).
Everything functions normal except the heated grips.
I took it apart again and again and re-assembled to make sure of the connections.
But still no heat.
It's a 2 wire cable through the bars and I've got 12V and ground relative to the battery ground at the end that plugs into the TBW sensor.
Didi I loose a ground somewhere?
Any ideas?

Did you check your fuses ?

 

Yes.
Checked fuse.
12V through a 4 amp fuse and 12V switched.

 

One pair of wires is power to the grip with the thermostat, the other two pairs are connected to the heating elements. Disconnect the power pair and Ohm the other two pairs one at a time, they should each show resistance on the Ohm meter.

 

Another suggestion.... start the bike. I have heard of some that won't put out heat without the extra oomph from the alternator. I know mine sure gets hotter going down the road.

a Year later... and I am running into the same issue with NO heat goes thru my 14 FLHTK.
in addtion to this, i also get the check engine light and my Cruise does not work either.

this happened with Bars swap.. Argggh.. any tips? thanks.
