6th gear indicator not always engaging
I have a 2013 FLXH and after the last service (engine + gearbox oil), my 6th gear indicator doesn't always engage. This has the nasty side effect that cruise control won't engage either.
I've found that in most cases when I put the bike into 6th gear at 60mph+ and then ride for a while at about 75mph and then slow down to about 60mph for a minute or two the 6th gear indicator will engage. But as soon as I flick the clutch without changing gears, I have a 50/50 chance of the 6th gear indicator engaging again.
This being a 2013 FLHX means it's all ECU controlled which leads me to believe it's a faulty wire, but maybe the gearbox oil could cause this as well?
Any and all ideas welcome on how to track down the root cause, I will find a solution once I understand what is causing this I hope.

Id check the clutch lockout switch, its behind the clutch lever. I say this because cruise will work in other gears and not just 6th, gear selection is irrelevant to the cruise control working(well above I think 30mph that is,). That switch will prevent the 6th gear indicator for coming on and it also disengages cruise when activated. And well allowing you to start the bike in gear.

After market gear indicators usually use a sensor installed near the gear selector. If this is what you have then the sensor may need to be adjusted. The factory/ecu gear indicators estimate what gear the bike is in by calculations using the mph and rpm. It is not an exact science. They calibrate it for the average rider. 75+ mph is not considered average. Also these indicators are famous for not being as accurate in higher gears as they are in lower ones.

Do you have a Dynojet PC-V installed? If yes, do a search on the forum. There is a setting in the program that needs to be 'unchecked' or your cruise control / 6th gear indicator will not function properly.

Harley Touring Model
On my Harley Touring model once in a while my cruise control and 6th gear light will stop working.
If you experience any problems with cruise control, or 6th gear indicator light on a newer Harley Davidson Touring bike with a Power Commander V installed. In the Power Commander software go to Power Commander Tools/Configure/Harley ECM Data. Uncheck the box next to Diagnostic Port Enabled. Click OK.
