Heated Grips Parts Question...2010 Ultra
I know I'm not alone in having heated grips issues, but I'm trying to decide whether to let someone else mess with it or tackle it myself. The grips won't heat at all, I have a 2010 CVO Ultra. I've heard that the problem many times could be the left control grip. I've checked the fuse in the box on the side which is good, if another exists I can't find it. I tried taking the grip off the left, the wire goes behind the retainer at the end of the grip and is not long enough to allow the grip to come off the bar end. Does that retainer come off the grip? I tried and it doesn't seem to. I was looking for the plug that attaches the right grip, but all I see is wire coming our of the grip and into the bar. I have a copy of the installation instructions, vague at best...any of you work on yours and have any tips!? Thanks!

I've installed a couple sets of heated grips. The left side has two separate wires, one picks up the power and tales it to the rheostat on the left grip, the other wire connects to the factory installed wire coming from the TBW sensor in the right grip. The add on heated grips got their power from the back of the cigarette lighter. You'll have to remove the front half of the fairing to get access to the power source and the left to right grip connector. First check for power at the lighter, that the grip wire is attached and making good contact, then with the grip the highest setting, check for voltage on the lead from the left to right grips. If you don't have power on the left right connector than the left grip is probably bad.
