Dumb question time... will they fit with the stock heat shields? And do they have a nice deep un-obnoxious note?

Yes, they fit with the stock shields. Yes, in my opinion, the plugs I installed made them "un-obnoxious". Also, the stock baffle is still installed, so if you wanted to quiet them down further, you could insert V & H Quiet baffles. The regular baffles don't have any wrapping around them.
