Since I can't seem to send a pm I'll ask here. Can the cone be rotated so the blemishes can be put towards the tank or are they just stuck to the outside? With the bracket you have can the spike be mounted vertical?

 

There are 4 screws in the back of the cone are in a square pattern so I don't see why it can not be rotated so the blems are on the inside when mounted making it so they can not be seen.

Yes, the spike can be mounted horizontal or vertical. You can see the smaller holes in the bracket that make a upside down triangle. This would be the vertical mount position.
