Default Let's see the pics: Wide Glides with fatter tires or custom wheels

I realize there was an older thread about putting a fatter tire on the front of the Wide Glide, but it didn't have much information and no pics.

So does anyone run fatter tires than what came on the bike? In particular, I'm interested in seeing photos of bikes that have been modified with conversions which allow a much fatter rear tire and something along the lines of a 120 up front. Putting a 120 up front would obviously require a new wheel, so I'm interested in seeing photos of Wide Glides with custom wheels.

If you have put on fatter tires, how did it affect stability and overall feel? Did you like it?

Here's another one from this thread.

I can't even tell you how much safer my ride feels, seriously. That wide front 21" wheel looks like a friggin beast too, I'm glad I did it. Now I just need a new front fender.I went the summer without one.

I change mine out as well, picked up a 3.25 rim, re-laced and went with a 120/70-21. The bike handles and rides so much better plus, I think it looks better.

Default Wider front tire on my WG.

OP,
I put a 3.5" X 21 DNA twisted 80 spoke rim with the Metzler Marathon 880 that is 120/70 21 tire. I chose to keep the rear the stock size. I can tell you that it made all the difference in how the bike handles. It is no longer scary to cross a grated bridge. She also doesn't shimmy when traveling on grooved highways at speed. Well worth the money.

below is a link to see the picture in my album.

And a link so you can see how the bike looks overall.

97 WG here

F = 120/71 on a 21" x 3.5" wheel
R = 180/55 on a 18" x 8.5" wheel

Handling vastly improved over what I had for stock. Went through a sweeping turn with stock at 70-75 and had a wobbly feeling. After the wider wheels and tires, 100+ through the same turn and stable.
