is it just me, but I dont see a whole lot of difference between the low rider and the Superglide. I understand more chrome and tank mounted speedo, 2 up seat. what else is there to justify the 4K price difference. Because that stuff just doesnt add up to 4K

I'm not a lowrider owner, but I'm gonna stick up for those guys here. First, you mention chrome...it's not just one or two pieces...it's pretty much the entire engine on the lowrider that's chromed. If you add up all those parts (check the catalog), you'll see that they add up to quite a bit. Speaking of the engine, it's also blacked out...once again, if you look in the HD catalog, in the engine section, a black engine is generally $1000 more than silver. Now add in the two up seat, lower shocks, and additional chrome pieces not on the engine, and you'll see that 4K is a little more reasonable than you originally thought. Plus...you can say you're riding a low rider...and we all know what a name costs.

I do like the black engine better. But all the other chrome you can get from the catalog for like 600 Buck. I think thats just the outer covers though. yeah your right the name is everything until its not stock anymore. your right. I would rather just di it all myself with after market stuff for cheaper. hey what can i say I am a cheapskate.

Oh by the way, I wasnt putting down anyones bike. I was merely asking where the price differences come from. Thanks to your thorough explanation I now understand.

Here's a couple of pics of my StreetBob with some mods... now it's a bit different (SEII slip ons, black stuff, oil cooler, no mirror, different bar, different footpegs, chrome covers...)

On the back is my brother's XL1200R!

ciao...
