Was asked a question
My buddy asked me a question and frankly I don't have the answer for it.
Why does the Wide Glide have 2 gas caps?
My answer was for nostalgia.
Any takers?

I'd be willing to bet it was done that way to go along with the early FX models. Like the 80 FXWG

The original 5 gallon ( and 3.5 gallon,) "fat bobs" were two piece tanks tied together with crossover tubes. Each tank had its own cap. The gas cap on the right (high side when on the side stand,) was the only cap with the breather for both tanks.

Depends on the year, some of them have a gas gauge not a cap on the left.

It's a carry over from when Harley's had 2 separate tanks! Same as the little cross over hose!
