Used the threaded rod route. Socket wrench and a couple minutes to on or off. Total <$20 for the hdwe.

 

I installed the HD Quick Disconnect kit on my Super Glide yesterday.

It's $50. HD part # 53961-06. Superb quality parts. It includes replacement inner fender support struts, which is pretty amazing at that price. You need the inner piece because the stock one isn't threaded where the old turn signal was mounted.

I installed it in conjunction with the LeatherPros FXDXT Retro T-Sport bags. They're flat gorgeous.

The T-Sport bags come complete with the quick disconnect mounting pegs and hardware for the bags. If you want to use both the T-Sport bags plus any HD quick disconnect sissy bar, or back rest, or luggage rack, then you install BOTH the HD quick disconnect piece PLUS the T-Sport mounting pegs. The T-Sport kit includes mounting bolts for either way.
