Default Transmission problem on FXDB ??

I have a 2007 Street bob. There is a whining/screeching sound that seems to be coming from my primary.. but I cant tell. It only happens in 5th gear..

I adjusted the clutch (not just the cable) hoping that would fix it, but it did not..

Any idea what this could be?

Thanks!

Kaycee-

Nope just checked, There's no leaks. Would the primary bearing cause the bike to make that sound in only one gear?

Search the forum for 5th gear whine. Lots of complaints. Doesn't happen on mine but it could be the helical cut 5th gear if you have it.

The 07 had a straight cut fifth gear, while 4th and 6th are helical cut. That's what you are hearing. Harley has a helical cut 5th if you can't stand the noise.

I bet that's it. Totally normal on your bike. Mine does the same thing.

Yep mine and several other 6 speed cruise drives i been around too. Think of it as incentive to speed up and hit 6"th

Awesome! Thanks for the input everyone. I always ride with a full face and music blasting, So I don't know how long its been going on. I rode with my brain bucket the other day and was able to notice the sound.

I'm glad to hear there's a chance its nothing serious.

Does it only happen when you're doing wheelies?
