Default Vance & Hines Sideshots or Thunderheaders

I own and ride a 2011 Dyna Street Bob. Recently I have been thinking about going louder. I love the Vance & Hines sideshot exhaust pipes but I also love the Thunderheader 2 in 1 exhaust. Just looking for what other Harley owners who have these pipes think and recommend. Pro and cons of both? Malfuction issues?

Thanks,

Xavier

I say get a 2-1 for best power.

You're going to hear about quality issues with the ThunderHeader, but the best for power and sound. Some like the look. Some hate them... I like the look, but the complaints about quality keep me away.

Are we talking V&H Sideshots or V&H Shortshots? You said Sideshots, but I thought V&H only made those for older Dyna's?

Anyway, I love the look of the Sideshots. Very aggressive and you don't see them very often.

I have a set of black SIDEshots on my 2008 Fatbob. They are going to be coming off soon. They are nice and loud and look great. I have both the standard baffles and the V&H quiet baffles.

I've decided to go with a 2 into 1 to maximize future performance mods.

my buddy has sideshots on his 06 sb and quiet baffles. they sound really good and look pretty cool too. you just don't see them very often, which is something i like. the have a nice deep rumble to them with the quiet baffles, but still plenty loud.

I've had a Thunderheader for 33,000 miles and V&H Big Shots for 27,000 miles...

Both great pipes. Both no issues. I would buy either again. 2-1 is better for performance but if your motor is essentially just a stage 1, it is a pretty negligible difference. Whichever grabs you should work fine.

When I bought my '09 it had black V&H Sideshots with Fuel Pak. I didn't like the way the bike ran and did some adjustments to the Fuel Pak as per V&H website and the bike ran better. I changed out to the Thunderheader and SEPST and the bike runs much stronger and I have had zero issues with the quality of the pipe. I still have the Sideshots and Fuel Pak collecting dust.

The Side Shots are loud and will wear on you. The 2-1 is = on perfromance and gets the sound behind you with the longer pipe.

op, sounds like you could get a sweet deal on those dust collectors of atrox and decide for yourself if you like the sideshots...probably for a fairly low investment
