2014 Low Rider

You have to decide if the current cost is worth the purchase.... everybody needs to figure in their wants, needs, and budget..
My first new Harley, 1978 FXS, was $4,300 out the door.... I almost didn't buy it, because it was so expensive...
In 1989, I was thinking of trading in my 1980 FXS for a 1989 Heritage. The Heritage was $12,200 out the door....
I was just staring at the bike, with desire in my heart... The shop owner, Doc, walked up to me and said, "Well, you going to buy it or just stare at it...?"
I said, "I want it, but not sure I can justify spending $12K on a Harley..."
Doc smiled and said, "Well, that's up to you, but they aren't going to be getting any cheaper......"
I went back and bought it the next day....
Here we are 34 years later... and it would seem Doc was right... Harleys certainly aren't getting any cheaper...

My first Harley, and purchased new, was a 2006 Dyna Low Rider. I paid around $19,000 for that bike, and wasn't happy, but I was making a lot of money at the time. That bike had the 88TC. When I bought my 2015 LR with the 103TC, dual front discs and ABS, I was $14.500 out the door. That bike was less than two years old, still had a few months on the factory warranty, less than 5,000 miles, and fully loaded, and I mean everything chromed, including the front forks, and a Stage I tune using a Screamin' Eagle Super Tuner Pro, (no longer available) and a Cobra exhaust. The moral of the story? Don't rush into your local dealership to see the shiny new bikes. Decide what you want and start shopping. Go to local dealers websites, and local classified ads, and find a late model, low mileage bike. You may not get your favorite color or options, but chances are you'll save a ton of money...

Noticed many new HDs on cycletrader do not even list a price. Just a "call the dealer" where price would normally be.

I agree. Not sure I will be getting another HD anytime soon but if and when I do I am going to go the private sale route.

For years, I've been looking out for an affordable replacement for the Remus silencer I had. The stock silencer is a bit tame and, as you may have seen on another thread, mine has now suffered a split! Today, I stumbled across this. Do any of you have experience of this seller and/or the Ironhead silencer?

Time to post a recent pic of old faithful. She's my daily commuter ride to work. No recent upgrades or changes other than taking off the quick detach windshield for this pic.

I took the LR out this past weekend and I went for a long mountain ride. 135 miles of twisty's and I was passing everybody. Cages, other bikes, just hell on wheels...took me 20 minutes to get the bugs out of my teeth, lol
