Fuel is more expensive, the MPG isn't that much better than my beater honda civic, and the tires/maintenance costs are way more, mile for mile. Plus I don't want to rack up too many miles on the bike, I drive about 2k miles a month for work.

This for me as well.

Gas prices in Georgia have always been reasonable...I remember .79 cent gas at one point...

I filled up today at AUD 2.30 / litre which is about USD 6.40 / gallon. On the bright side it was a perfect day for a ride. Note the paraglides in the pic.

I noticed that too about the price of premium. Was at gas station today and saw 89 gas was $5.50 and 93 was 6.09. It was always a 20 cent spread between the two in the past.

Back in the 90s and early 2000s I drove down to GA to visit a friend and got gas for 99 cents a gallon.

OK, prior to the oil embargo in 1973 gas was going for about $0.30/gallon. Then came the lines and quotas. It was never the same after that.

Before the embargo, we were driving from the Northeast to Florida. Somewhere around South Carolina we encountered a "gas war" and filled up for $0.199

My Uncle claims to have done the same thing a few years earlier and it was $0.099/gallon

We will never see those kinds of prices ever again.

Card reader wasn’t working on the pump today so I went in and asked for $15. Didn’t fill it up. Wife and I rode for 112 miles and was right back to the same “distance to empty” as when I got fuel. Not even cheap to take the bike out anymore!
