Default 180 Rear Tire

Stock rear tire on the 2014 is 160/70B17. Without changing anything, such as belt width, what wider rear tires can I easily run on the stock rim?

What wider rear tire sizes are folks going with?

I'm looking at a Pirelli Night Dragon in 170/60R17 or 180/60B17

What would the down sides be to this change?
You can go as high as a 180 but you will probably need a taillight relocation kit for clearance. That's what I had to do on my '06 LR...

Such a shame that all that "Low Rider" panache got lost in translation to 2018.

Man. I used to ride my lr everyday but I was laid off from my job. Bike sat for about a month, and now it runs like total ****. Exhaust pops and air cleaner puffs out smoke. Gotta go through her to get her acting right again...hopefully it's just bad gas

Say what? You got 14k out of a set?
How?
I’m almost at 9000 and am about ready to change tires because I’m at the wear bars. Both front and rear.
I run
36 psi front
41 psi rear
Cold (for Sandy Eggo anyway!)
I don’t ride 2-up as my gf rides her own.
Hmmm...

Not sure how I did it but I did it. I never rode with a passenger and I am under 200 lbs. I followed the owner's manual and ran 40 PSI in the rear and 30 in the front. I do not ride in the rain and my bike is always garaged.

on the originals, ran the rear to 12k, the front to 19k.
have a set of commander 2, have 16k on rear so far, 9k on front.
run about 38 psi in rear, 34 in front, a lot of 2 up riding.

I have 7,400 miles on my tires. Rear will be replaced probably in about another 1,000 miles. Front is in really good shape with no cupping. Could get another 3-5,000 miles out of that one...

Well slow progress on the paint. Fenders are done and wet sanded just need to buff tonight. Built hangers to hang the tank and fairing from. Hoping to get a little done each evening and reassemble for the weekend. Thankfully it's been raining all week or I'd miss riding more. Teaser pic. After fresh clear laid.
