Have you ever ran out of gas? (to test capacity) or tested your theory in another way?

If HD does a LR CVO, please give us a legit 5 gallon tank that will actually hold 5 gallons.
This has been my exact experience, when the light finally came on. 3.3 gal fill-up

Um, did you ever stop to think that maybe the tank is 4.7 gal. and the low fuel readout is wrong? How many miles did you ride to fill up to 3.3 gals.?

When the low fuel indicator lights up, .9 of a gallon is left in the tank.

But, how do you know the low fuel light is accurate and there really is .9 gal. left in the tank? There might be another 1.5 gal. instead of the .9 gal.

Maybe call mythbusters and have them do an actual test for accuracy...I dunno.

Few years ago, had to ride an acquired Carbed 883 171 miles home @ ~70mph. Sputtered @ ~149mi, flipped to reserve, then quit @ ~169mi (on Off-Ramp) ...Gas station at end of Ramp

Now i know fuel range at those riding conditions

I have never run out of gas. I have never been able to get anywhere near 4.7 gallons in the tank.

Well, what is the most gas you have been able to put in the tank? I am not alone in this observation. See HDConvert511 above. Much earlier in this thread people were making the same observations.

I hope my post about fuel tank capacity has not struck a nerve.
