Just got my bike back from the dealer myself. Ignition switch recall. Only mine failed last Tuesday, and I had to get trailered to the dealer.Had no idea what the problem was. I rode to the store. Bike was running fine. Came out to leave, turned the ignition on, had lights and everything else, but NOTHING happened when I pressed the start button. No noise, zilch, nada, nothing. Like someone had removed the battery. Only the lights were working and bright. Like A1A said, total new ignition, new keys, bracket, etc., and boom.......good to go. Missed my bike for 7 whole days...........and it's right in the middle of Ohio Bike Week. So glad to have it back.

Thanks. I am feeling better but I know something is going on that will have to be fixed. I want to ride to work every day I can. No one ever died wishing they had done less riding.

Question for those who have had the newest ignition switch recall done...........

Did they replace the steering lock as well so they are keyed the same?

You know what? I never thought of that! Hang on, I'll go check...................

Yep! They must have because the new keys work on the fork lock.

From a "Technical" perspective...interesting

From a "Practical" perspective...C'mon, totally unacceptable on a brand new bike

Yes, steering lock was also replaced on mine. New key works in both ignition & steering locks.

I hope it is that way for me too. I have some lost riding to make up for.

they dont replace the steering lock. The key is made based on your vin. So the new ignition is made to your original key. you get a new set of keys with the new ignition lock, however your old keys will still work.

Not true my friend, at least in my case. The old keys do not work. Completely different key number as well.
