Default loose slip ons

My slip.on mufflers are very loose on the pipes. Should I get new clamps or can I make a sleeve with a beer can and whim it between the slip on and the old clamps? Any help would be great. Thanks

I'd get new clamps and use a 1/2 inch drive ratchet set to tighten them.

The stock clamps are only rated for one use before they become slip-offs. No need for a half inch drive, just torque them to spec. If you're still getting leaks you can use some High Temp Copper RTV to seal them up.

I kind of doubt it's the clamps. If the slips have been removed it's possible they are flared. I hate to differ with ratbob but those HD OEM torca clamps are very sturdy. 1/16th" rolled steel 1" wide, with a half " bolt and nut, and two half moon wedges to force them shut.
USAZ pleas tell us if those slips are new or used or been off and if you have them snug in place with the toca clamp positioned directly at the end of the slip on, but not over-lapping the collector pipe?

I have no dyna but, have you checked the mounting points? The mount bar may have cracked. I had that issue.

I had a set that needed a strip of aluminum to make a tighter fit.

I would go ahead and shim it...the clamps are probably fine.

Maybe you need to get a pipe expander like the mufflers shop use & expand your headers. I would also use some hi-temp silicone like was mentioned. Good luck. Beer cans? You can do better than that.

So I went out to the dealer and picked up a pair clamps. They were only 16$ for the pair, will see how they do when installed. @ madd they are used screaming eagles, had them on for about 3 years. I took them off to change the rear tire. Just noticed the other day when I was riding that they were backing out. I put the clamp near the end of the slop on on the collected pipe. Cvaria, the mounting bracket os ok. Sedona. I thought beer cures all. Ha ha ha!!!!!!!

Do not clamp them crazy tight. The clamp has a lot of strength. They will put a recess in the header/muffler and make them nearly impossible to get off.
If tight won't do it use a soda/beer can cut it in strips as wide as the header clamp is. Put them between the 2 pipes and tighten.
