Default Brake/Master Cylinder Problem

My front brake doesn't work unless I pull in the brake lever almost all the way. My brake lights are also always on unless I push my brake lever all the way forward. Thinking that the brake light issue was being caused by the master cylinder plunger not pushing the lever into the brake switch button, I replaced the master cylinder plunger and spring but that did nothing. I replaced the brake switch and that fixed the brake light issue for a little while (about 2 weeks) then it slowly started back up again. Also replaced bulbs. Any ideas for these two issues? Thanks.

Although it seems too elementary, it really sounds like you have air in the brake lines. Have you properly bled the line? Is the brake fluid proper type and not contaminated with something?
