I never tried reversing the springs. There's no reason it wouldn't work so long as there is enough space to avoid collapsing the travel on the coil. The stress is still acting between the mount points, so the coil location makes no difference.

I have 1" gel on mine, but I can't speak for your needs.
Cool! I'm 5'8" 170#, so I may go with the Gel and maybe a 2.5" or 3" spring.

The barrel springs give a ride that is MUCH more comfortable than the scissor springs.

We make bolt on solo seat kits for Sportsters, but have had quite a few Dyna owners use them with some slight modifications.

You can take a look HERE at our seat systems and components. We have the springs in both chrome and black.

I want to slam my wide glide this summer.... I know this will stiffen the ride a bit. Would a spring seat resolve some of this or actually make the ride even less comfortable than the slam mod?

It will make it more comfortable.

I found that even with struts and a sprung solo seat the ride is surprisingly good. Add any kind of shocks, even slammed ones, along with a good sprung seat and the ride will be better than stock shocks and stock seat.

I have the scissor springs on mine currently and rode from Denver to Sturgis this last year without a problem. But, now that it's lowered it's a harsh ride.
