Hill Country Custom Ape hangers - What they don't tell you.
#61
As having dealt with Hill country on a quality related situation in the past I can only say that in the future shop around a little more. Do your own research on what your bike needs before you start shopping. I partially blame harley for doing something so dumb as switching the bar size which is already at an industry standard. Now from the words of my boss if you come into my shop and say I need these bars and are acting as the technician. I say the bikes on your lift what parts do you need. If the sizes you tell me you need are not correct thats your bad. In my shop you get charged a 20% restocking if thats what the supplier requires and shipping. I am simply the middleman. If you want it done right and professionally come drop the bike off and have one of our techs do the work.

I really don't care for big apes but that's just me...however I hated the stock bars on my '01 SG so when I decided to change them, I went to the local dealer, sat on bikes until I found a fit that I liked...on a WG...and they cross referenced the WG mini-apes to my SG, and I got everything I needed...throttle cables, clutch cable, wire extender kit, and hardware (except the brake line..they didn't have one so I got a NOS one off of eBay for $40...less than half-price retail from the dealer). Cost for the bars and everything was just over $300...retail...from a HD dealer. Total cost to replace it all came in under $400...and I did it all myself and enjoyed every minute.
And, I got the part numbers for the cables and brake line from a forum topic here...there is a wealth of information on just about anything Harley Davidson on this forum.
