Default Starter Noise

My 2007 Lowrider every time I start the bike the starter makes a loud metal to metal noise whenthe starter button is released. My other Harleys I owned made a kick back noise sometimes which I thought was normal. But thesound the starter makes on this bike is different. Is anyone else having thissound on start-up. When the salesman started it in the showroom to drive it out when I bought the bike it made the same noise and it didn't seem to worry him so I thought it was normal with the new starter set-up. I only have 300 miles on the bike now.

I had the same problem with my 07 bob, starter wasn't engaging correctly. Dealer had to replace starter and clutch. Warranty covered everything. Id get your bike in soon.

Took my bike to the dealer today and had the service head man check it out. He started it a couple times and said he thought it sounded different. It just so happens there is a Harley fleet truck there for a big test ride party Saturdaywith all makes and models they make. Just sign up and ride any bike you want. We started about 10 different bikes and all but 1 made the same noise as mine. Service manager said it must just be how the 07's sound and don't worry about it. Its covered under factory warranty and extended for 2 extra years also. I told him I wanted him to document this visit just in case in the future something breaks in the starter and gear set-up. Does anyone else with an 07 have this sound when you start your bike.

I leave for work at 4:30 am, I live in 55 or older complex. Sometimes that starter seems real loud. In A.M. I have 4000+ miles Its always started. But sometimes I wander if its 100% Rite.
