I picked up a 99 FXDX last month for a pretty good price. The guy I got it from was pretty happy with the way it was from HD and he mostly left it alone. I am not the kind of guy who rides "someone else's" bike, so I have to make it mine before I'll be happy with it.


The first pic is how she looked when I got her home last month.

Second pic is with lower 11" shocks

Third is after I started pulling it apart

The front and back rims are getting powder coated black, including the trees and the lower legs.

I ordered some 3 degree neck cups that will lower the front end a bit.

Picked up a used Le Pera solo seat also gonna add some new rubber and 14" apes.

Should be a fun winter project.

The cars are pretty much done. The 71 is mine and the 67 is my brothers car.

The 71 is a 350 700r4 373 12 bolt car. Black interior w/ a bench seat.

The 67 is a 383 700r4 4.10 12 bolt car. Black interior w/ a bench seat.

CJ- My 2001 1200C is the same color. Trust me, you'll get a lot of compliments about it...

 

That is one nice garage, with a lot of nice stuff. Ah if we could only go back to the day when you could tell cars apart from a quarter mile away.

 

My FXDX was that color when I got it, "Aztec Orange Pearl" and I often regrete painting it

 

The guy I got it from mentioned that the color was different than most FXDX's. I am gonna leave it Aztec Orange and black out most of the chrome. Actually, this will be the first Harley I own that isn't just black and chrome.
