Default Dyno or proprietary tuner?

hey all, just wondering about the remapping thing on the fuel injected tc96s.... I just bought an '07 Streetbob, and they'll be installing the VandH slipons and Stage 1 A/C...now, the sales manager said that they'll dyno it after all is done to bring things together...

what's the difference between having it dyno'd or using one of the other aftermarket fuel tuners like the VandH fuelpack?

...if I decide to eventually by some VandH bigshots or even those Cobra Dragsters, and have the dealer install them, will they have me buy the tuners that the manufacturer suggests, or will having it dyno'd do the same thing?

please help a newbie to Harleys understand

thanks

You need to do one of those things to be able to tune the bike.
Did they do a Stage1 download??
There has to be some type of remapping done if you opened up your air flow, otherwise you'll run the engine too lean, and burn it up.
IMHO.................

Do some research.

thanks Doug!

...so when I pick the bike up on Saturday, I should obviously find out what sort of "tuning" was performed (Stage 1 download, Fuelpack, or Dyno)?

...am I understanding this correctly, Doug?

Me, I did Python 2 into 1 and a stock replacement K&N air filter with a Dobeck TFI. Being a cheap old fashioned bastige I just go by reading the plugs and how she rides. I use the "Stage 1" setting from Dobeck and go from there. Dyno tuning ain't bad but, the less I have to rely on a dealer chop shop the better off I am IMO.

I would recommend you get some type of tuner. I got the SERT and had mine dyno tuned with that. Huge difference in performance.
