Bought My First Bike 02 Wide Glide
I just bought a 02 wide Glide. This is my first bike I have ever owned. I have ridden dirt bikes and a friends Maurader on occasion. I am 6-5, 220 lbs. I bought my bike through a friend who is a Harley tech inS Cal so I won't recieve it for a couple weeks.
I guess I just wanted to create a post to see what you think of me basically learning how to ride on a wide glide. I love how comfortable they are and how I fit on them. My main concern is the weight, Am I over my head?
This bike is completley stock besides the pipes. Do you suggest any modifications right away that would benifit a beginner rider?
I do have my permit and I do plan on taking the 3 day beginner class in June after I get some road experience in.
Thanks,
Adam

Hello Aroberts;
With your size the Wide Glide should be a breeze to handle. At some time in the future you may even want to look at extended forward controls. For right now take the riders course, it is well worth the time and money. I will caution you that once you buy the first accessory it is all down hill from there, you will soon have Chicago HD. and Zanotti HD. on speed dial. Many of the forum members know the UPS guy by his first name, since they see him about two or three times a month. Ride your Glide and enjoy, they are fine motorcycles.

You will enjoy the WG. I have enjoyed mine. Like some have said, once you buy a few new pieces, it starts rolling downhill fast. My UPS driver is a female and she just shakes her head....she's here more than the mail lady!!! The pic below is of it before I put it in the house for the winter. Everything you see black except for the tires, frame, and seat are now chrome. Add chrome rotors also...and braided throttle and clutch cables and brake lines. I think that is it...[8D]
