Default I finally got my steel horse..

What's up guys and gals? I finally got my steel horse and I'm loving it. I have a question for you guys; What's the speed in gears for this bike? The salesman told me not to lug the motor during the break-in, so what speed should I be at in 4th gear? Here's a picture of my steed>>>

25mph - 2nd
30 to 35 - 3rd
40 to 45 - 4th
50 to 55 - 5th
65 to 70 - 6th

This is around where you should shift, but nothing is set in stone.

In my 2007 Dyna owners manual on page 71 it lists the following for shifting:

1st to 2nd- 15 mph
2nd to 3rd- 25 mph
3rd to 4th- 35 mph
4th to 5th- 45 mph
5th to 6th- 55 mph

I am usually cruising in 6th 55-60 mph and it doesn't sound like engine is lugging. Actually when I'm up around 70-75 I think it could use another gear. I think there is a difference between 2006 and 2007 models which might be due to the torque difference in the 88 and 96 inch engines. My ex-wife has a 2006 Dyna and i noticed an all around difference between hers and mine with where I needed to downshift for turns etc. and with gettin into 6th gear.

I will roll long flats in 6th at 60mph but if I have to accelerate quickly or go up a hill it will lug. I prefer to run a little higher RPMs in town for better engine response, of course this hurts my MPG.

Thanks for the info guys. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't lugging the motor, but I didn't want to over rev it either. I'm just not use to the V-Twins and their shift points yet. I'm also not use to not having a tach. My current bike also is a stretch Hayabusa (seepic below)

and I could ride around town in the first 2 gears if I wanted. First gear was good for 80mph and 2nd 115mph.
