Default Thoughts on how to get better ride and handling for 2005 Lowrider

I'm wanting to get my 05 Lowrider to handle and ride better on our very rough Australian roads. Currently has Progressive 418 rear shocks in 12 inch or 305mm length with Progressive fork springs. Very harsh and too low for our roads. Thinking I will go with 12.5 inch or 317mm Icon rear shocks http://www.ikonsuspension.com/conten...s_shocks.shtml along with matching fork springs and gold valves in the forks. What are people's experiences and thoughts?

If I ran the zoo I'd swap out both the front and rear units and build up a Tracker styled Sporty. They look really good when done right and the moto shocks will eat up the bad roads a lot better. Another thing you can do is go with a higher profile tire wich will help to isolate you and the bike from the smaller stuff better. There are several outfits that make triple trees to accept different fork legs and I know here in the US they can be found on local internet classifieds for not too much money. The trick will be to match the spring rates with both the bike and your weight combined. I know a few guys that run old Iron Heads at vintage motocross events on a modern dirt bike track and they do pretty well.

Does Icon make 13" shocks? If so, you may want to get the extra 1/2". It really helped my 04 Low Rider stop dragging parts.
