stock seat when solo riding and switch to HD sundowner seat and detachable backrest with big pad when the wife goes on 300 mile trips which is quit often.

 

here's what you do...

put a solo seat on and make her ride the fender for a few weeks (or months). Then.. when you put on any cool *** fastback style seat she will be grateful.

If, after she starts getting used to the fastback seat; she starts mouthing off to you (and you're in a public place where they frown upon you slapping women), tell her that she'll go back to sitting on the fender if she doesn't know what's good for her.

 

the mustang wide is a very comfy seat and the (easily removable) passenger pillion is also great. I switched from the 2 up sundowner and didnt got zero complaints from my ol. The sundowner will set you higher and closer to the tank.

 

C&C Dual Sport Tour seat here. Never a complaint from my babe. All day comfortable. Pilot position is pushed back about an inch or so from stock.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Several of you seem to like the Sundowner so I will check that out next time I am at the dealer. Ynots, just curious why you decided to move from the 2 up Sundowner to the Mustang. Was your wife unhappy with the Sundowner? Did you not like the pilot position compared to stock? Or was it a desire to add the rider backrest?

 

There is a reduced reach (short ***) option on the sundowner. I bought one of these second hand by mistake for my Street Bob. It was not comfortable for me at all but I find the one I have now on the fat bob easily as comfortable as the stock seat and the pillion loves it compared to stock!

 

You can't go wrong with the Sundowner. It changes your position a little, but nothing that should bother you. Never had a passenger complain. Dealers usually have one you can try, before you buy.
