You know I have removed my tank several times so far for various mods that I have done and even spilled some gas and never thought anything of it until this post. I always know that I should disconnect the battery but usually never do. I will definately make a point to disconnect the battery from now on.

Glad everyone was safe and the bike made it through relatively unscathed. But you definitely need to change your nickname to "Blaze" or "BlazinBob". Maybe we could start a contest.

Glad everyone was OK. $631 is peanuts when you consider what could have heppened.

I guess there was no paint damage with that estimate. That sucks, could have been a perfect time to do a custom paint job

 

Iknow it wasn'tfunny at the time, but I'm sure you and your wife will look back at that moment and laugh about it.
When I removed my tank I used a vice grip to pinch the cross over line and put a cap on the tank port that I pulled one end of the line off of, then removed the quick disconnect line on the rear of the tank. Some other people on this forum left the cross over lines intact and disconnected the rear quick release then slide the tank back out of the way.
Another tip would be to video tape when your working on your bike just in case you have another mishap, then you could send the tape here http://abc.go.com/primetime/AmericasFunniest/show.html, you could end up with a lot of mod money.
