Default The Funky Fork (?) gas tank clunk!

Ok, so I read all the threads on the strange clunking sound, that sounds exactly like what I got on my '07 Steetbob. Tank bolts are tight. On to the forks....how in the hell does that pretty little chrome cap come off so I can get to nut? Pop off? Screw off? Gotta fix it tommorow cause I'm on the road the day after. I most humbley submit my question......

Is it your gas cap that's rattling? I had a clunking sound and I thought for sure it was either the gas tank or the forks but it turned out to be the gas cap.

Center cap unscrews.

Did you actually tighten the gas tank bolts?

Mine seemed tight, but I had a clunk. Sitting on the seat I reached around the front of the tank and was able to get it to slightly move up and down. Tightened the tank bolts up a little more and no more clunk.

Mine had a clunk when new. Tightening the fork stem adjuster and adjusting fall-away fixed it.
