2007street bob. Stock Dunlops. Around 12k rear and 21k front. Every time. Ride hard don't baby him or beat on him.

 

The stock Dunflops are a hard compond so last forever...the downside to this greatly increased wear life is that they absolutley suck when it comes to grip.

Your rideing style is the main influencer of tyre life...a mild riding style puts less friction into the tyres and they last longer; where my aggressive style means that i will always get between 1/2 to 3/4 of the life of a mild rider. Its a price I am willing to accept as I enjoy my riding style too much.

Its always going to be a tradeoff between long life and grip...its as simple as that.

 

Thanks guys! It's good to see all of the things that affect the tire life and hear about a few different pros and cons of some tire brands and models too.

Since I moved from SoCal, my riding style has changed quite a bit since there aren't many twisties in FL and the drivers don't know what a gas pedal is when the light turns green. Man does that drive me nuts!

I am glad to see that most of your numbers are a lot higher than what I was reading in the other models threads too.

 

I was a little peeved that my Dunlops I bought at the end of July were looking worn down. They are the stock model for a 2000 FXDX. Then I did the math and found out they were over 11k. I ride fast but start and stop slowly and turn like your grandma.

 

Ive squeezed 8000 miles, it I wasn't such a tight wad or a little smarter I would change it (the rear) at 7,000. Note: I dont ride nearly aggressive when they get thin. Both the scorcher & dunlop K591 had about same wear and handling characteristic. Trying the commander II next.

Pirelli night dragon rear on the wide glide, will struggle to get 6000miles, i go back to dunlop i think

2009 fxdc stock rear tire made it 9200miles and the stock front is looking thin with 16,000 miles. I will replace this with a metz 880 in the spring.

 

I get 4500 to 6000 at most from a rear tire. I get 2 rears to 1 front on sport touring tires. I am less concerned with mileage than I am performance. I am running Pilot Road 3s front and rear they stick like glue and are great in the rain.

Tire thread depth new (06/14/2012) was 11/32".


Thread depth after 12,625 km (7,844 miles) is 5 mm (~ 0.1969 inch ~ 25/128 inch)

It looks like I'm halfway now, so still some more miles to go!

 

I got over 12K on my stock Scorchers and just switched to Commander IIs. I have over a thousand miles on them so far and like the road feel much better. I hope they last as long.
