Default Rear Tire for 09 SB!

What is the widest tire you can put on back of an 09 SB? ive seen kits that show a 180 but they usually come with some kind of bracket for inner fender! what is the brackets purpose? thinner? thanks for the help and what kinda tire do you all recommend? longest lasting, best on wet roads etc. Thanks in advance!!!

Thumbs up

A few good tire choices, but the Michelin Commander II is currently kicking *** in the market. Very long lasting and good wet weather traction.

The 180 kit is not a requirement, but you may have to trim some stuff. Several guys have done it without the kit and will chime in.

Thanks man! Ready to hear more about it. Hate cold weather but sure as hell hate tearing into things during riding season!

This has been discussed a ton, anyone wanting answers could look to the search function.
I have always run a 180 on the back of my SB. Everything fits fine, just make sure you dont have any wires dangling where they shouldn't otherwise, you'll rub right through em.
There are no other clearance issues.

As for tires, so far I've liked the SE 180 the best, although it didn't last for too long. I tried the Pirelli ND's and didn't like those at all, terrible traction IMO. Going to try the MC 2's next.

SE 180 on my 06' no mods what so ever, grips great but only have a few hundred miles so cannot comment on wear. Looks good and rolls smooth.
