When is it too much(chrome or black)?

I was in the process of going blacker and blacker... then, sort of suddenly, I stopped.
I realized I liked having some contrast between bright and dark. I like the way the silver-grey engine stands out against the black all around it. But if I blacked out the wheels and left the engine, that would mess up the "balance".
So I'm good for now...

I'm all about the chrome. But can appreciate black parts. I chrome what I like and what my opinion of what should be chromed. For instance normally I think the cam and primary look better chrome, but with the JD timing and clutch covers I'm thinking the cam cover and primary look good black. But forks, exhaust, handlebars, instrument panel, grips and footrests/pegs etc have to be chromed! To each their own and it's all about personal preference...

Hah! I was blacking out my bikes in the 1970's before that kid on SOA was even born!
However... I admit it... I completely don't get the attraction of those T-bars.
But like somebody else said, to each their own...

I myself have always liked the black and chrome engine...and I usually add some chrome to the bike, but this 13 Super Glide I have now, I believe will stay pretty much stock, I may have to add saddlebags but other than that my days of decking out a bike are through.
I also have a Goldwing at home that I have added tons of chrome to, and LED lights so it brightens up the street at night. That will be the last one I accessorize.
Black bikes are nice, but I wouldn't buy one. Chrome is nice as long as it is not overdone. Too much chrome makes the bike look like crap!
Years ago, I saw a motorcycle shop owner put everything on his bike he sold so he could show how it looked when they were added on.....it really scared me and I didn't add anything to my bike for many years in fear that my bike would look trashy like his.
