Default Avon Cobra 190/60-17

Just instaled a Avon Cobra 190/60-17 on my SB. Cant ride it because of rain but cant wait. Like the big tire look. Used the stock rim and no problems with fit.

Looks good. Bike will feel like it has more too with the shorter tire. Mine feels like a rocketship with the /50 vs the /70.

Go ride it in the rain! Give us a wet tire review afterwards. Any tire can handle when its warm and dry. Lets see what this ones got.

How does it fit inside the fender? How much room do you have on each side?

My 180 Night Dragon leaves me 1/4" on each side.

The tire is only between .050 and .100 wider than the SE 180 tire so have good clearance. Have about 1/4" between tire and belt. It did stop raining and I went for a short ride and tire works good. After I get a few miles I will ride in the rain to see how it works, My SE 180 tire did real good in the rain and I think this tire will also.

Both your tire Gommee (the night dragon) and or your tire ARKstreetbob (the Avon).. are on my list as possibles... my only concern is will or do they (the dragon or the Avon) fill out the look asthetically speaking from a side view... in the same manner or fashion as the Dunlop 180 does?

I know the aspect ratios are similar.. but the look I am after shows a nice sidewall (like the dunlop 180 GT 502) and does not have the slimmed look (lesser sidewalls) like some of the other wide tired bikes I have seen here...

From the research and reading I've done.. I've heard nothing but good things about the dragon.. (handeling, wear, appearance) I havent seen anything other than this new post by arkstreetbob on the Avons.. like the idea of a 190 though

Just looking for some input if available.. as I dont want to go back to the dumbflops.. they look great and handle sweet.. but I can only get about 4K out of a rear tire before its ready to be changed out..

thanks

MY Opinion: The side wall on the Night Dragons is aesthetically pleasing to me, as well as the width, tread pattern, and the fitment. Over all, I am happy with the tire choice.
It was between the Avon and Pirelli and the Pirelli won due to the front and rear being both bias ply. I could not find a front and rear matching in either Bias or Radial.
With that said, I may have gone with the Avon 190 like arkstreetbob if I knew of the 190.
There is no way in He11 that I would have paid the $ for the 502. I got both front and rear for less.

Now, my other reasons for looking at the Avon and Night Dragon was actually the lack of sidewall. I ran out of tread on the stock Dunflops and almost ended up 6 ft under. With the Avons and Night Dragon, I doubt you will run out of tread before you loose your pegs completely.

Both are Great tires, it is your personal preference.

arkstreetbob your scoot looks sweet with the 190!

I can take a photo from the side later and post it. It look real good. This tire is the best looking tire I have put on my bike. I had 3 of SE 180 tires and think this Avon look a lot better. It stoped raining so got in a 20 mile ride and it is real smoth.
