Default 103" - is your clutch a bit sticky?

'12 switchback.
Had the bike a year, 5kmi. Ridden near daily.

Found the other (cold) morning, that with the clutch lever pulled in,
I could hardly budge the old girl. 1st, 2nd, didn't matter. Lots of drag.

I had adjusted the clutch at the case a few days earlier,
and did not notice this problem directly after.
I think I'm always wheeling around the bike in neutral,
but can't be positive.

Anyhow, got worried that my clutch wasn't completely disengaging.
Shifted fine cold, thought maybe a good rip would warm her up.

Rode fine, nothing to indicate anything was amiss.
Idle speed doesn't change at idle in neutral vs. idle in gear with clutch pulled. Bike doesn't try to pull at a stop in gear with clutch pulled.
Really no other symptoms.

Anyone else experiencing sticky cold clutch?

Promise next time I'll drink more coffee before trying to explain myself.

when we got the wifes 103 slim, the clutch wasnt disengaging right and it would pull just a hair in gear, so we had them adjust it it before we left the dealer and havent had probs since

My clutch moves just fine. I cut the levers down so it's stubby, I only use 2 fingers to clutch or brake. More then enough to move the levers easily. Have you tried to lube the clutch cable?

some times its not the adjustment, All depends on the weight off oil too, I personally use ATF, its great for the clutch in cold weather...A lot off cars run ATF in the manuel gearboxes,, even a car auto has the same design clutch pack as a motorcycle..

I ain't talking about the lever,
that moves fine.

Just seems like I'm not getting the travel to fully disengage the clutch,
which would make it hard to push in gear.

But like I said, this symptom got better once warm.

edit: using syn3

FYI Cars have dry clutches so this is not a relevant comparison.

Totally normal..clutch plates are stuck together until warmed up..nothing to worry about.

I kinda figured.
Just spooked me.
12 bikes, 2nd harley,
never had a sticky clutch on a bike that hasn't been sitting for only a day.

thanks.

Yup, kind of normal on a wet clutch to have some dragging when the lubricant viscosity is high (as when cold).

Automatics have wet clutch packs! Standard transmissions have single plate dry clutches usually!
