Mid-mount pegs with forward controls?

When I first put on the forwards and left the stock mids, I would catch the mid when coming to a stop because the stuck out to far. This is why I went with the shift peg. It's shorter, still provides enough space to plant my foot and I don't hit it at all.
The pegs never go up!!! I will ride with my feet in all kinds of positions, one on the forward the other on the mid sometimes. I am so used to it that I will take off from a stop, put my feet on the mids, pick my foot up to go shift and then come back to the mids without even thinking about it....which is handy when riding in so good twisties, muscle memory is a great thing!!! Braking is some what more of a though process when coming from the mid, need to watch the monentom carried into the pressing of the edal when coming from the mid and braking hard.
I use these pegs a ton when traveling, adding the heel rest made it even better, I have the option of a forward mount, mid mount, rear (passenger) mount and I can have an open floorboard mount (heel on the mid peg and toe/ball on the forward heel rest.
As for the backing up or stopping, you are conscious of the pegs at first and notice them and will put your legs out at a wider stance until you know where you are safe. The muscle memory thing comes into effect here also, I don't even think about them or notice them once your used to them, which depends on how much you ride as to how long this will take.
