Had to think about this one... suppose I never shift slowly. Always either med to fast. really don't want to let the r's drop too much. Fast shifting during spirited riding, med when just crusing.

The nice thing about these bikes compared to sportbikes is that they feel good to shift no matter if it is slow or fast (I don't think you will be getting many "fast as hell"votes). The trannies are good enough to shift sportbike fast, but they are satisfying to shift as slow as an old syncro-less double-clutch truck.

Mac, I think your talking to Dynalowride and not me, I never asked anybody such a stupid question in 48 years of riding, and I never owned a sportbike..But I did drag race, and I did Flat-track as a younger man..once I even did a hill-climb, but the landings are really rough To tell the truth I think he is just a troll,[:@]

Shifting before it is tine according to the rpm scale, if you should shift at 3500 but shift at 2500 that is short shifting..Your owners manual will say to shift from 1st to 2nd at 25 MPH but to shift at 20mph hour is short shifting.
my manual tells me to shift to 2nd at 15 mph? i have an 07 lowrider. is tthis correct for six speeds?

If I'm ridin hard I will typically employ a clutchless upshift...real nice technique I brought over from my road racing days.

Yes, that is fine, what ever your manual says, I merely used the nos. for a example, I have no idea what your manual says. I just shift, pure and simple, as do most on here, it is a second nature after riding for over1 year one just knows when to shift, of course some are quicker learners then others.

ya think so? I'm just trying to humor him, I have no idea if somebody can really be that bad of a rider to have to come on here and ask how to shift, but my bikes are froze in yet so i may as well have some fun on here [sm=chattypair.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=popcorn.gif][sm=popcorn.gif]
