I'm replacing the stator on my 06 dyna low, just wondering if this can be done without taking the inner primary cover off, have the comp. sprocket bolt off and I cant' get the rotor and stator to slide all the way off the shaft?
Yes you will need to get that inner primary off, unless you use mud's mod which I can't find right now. Use lots of lube on the wire harness when you pass it through the primary case.
I can't find that page, but it involves grinding the meat on the inner primary casing enough to slide the rotor out. As i recall it was from about 10 o'clock on down to about 5:30. I recommend buying the new bolts and gasket and do it right- there will be less risk involved. You should have a manual with you doing this job for torque values and procedure.
I found the lip on the inside of the inner primary cover def the lazy way. ill just take the cover all the way off. I have the bearing and seal, just didnt wanna take it down if it wasn't nessary.
