15 K miles and stripped shifter and shifter shaft
about 90 bucks in parts to fix but have to tear into the inner primary and transmission to fix it. first off when did they start using cheap crap metal on the shifter shaft ? Never had a problem like this ever. Makes one want to burn ones harley shirts in disgust.

Lifts
Watch out with the "lifts" because the oil tank extends below the frame and the traditional motorcycle lift requires the purchase of a "kit" from Harley (only about $30) but that or get creative with wood pieces and hope you have a level working surface... as far as going broke trying to keep them up, that comes with the "sound" and the "feeling"... if you want reliability you probably will have to start shopping elsewhere... I shouldn't say it out loud, but those new Indians are very distracting (in a positive way) and American, too!

Im on my 6th harley and been riding since 17. Never ever have I had this problem with a shifter shaft breaking on any of my previous bikes. I just took the bike in a week ago and had the shifter checked out . Been tight every time it has been checked every 1000 miles or so. Never been loose ever. So much for the lack of attention. I stand by my statement the metal the hd part uses is junk. Period. My parts did not ' rub together" they broke / snapped off.

Your first post said stripped. Your last said snapped. If you just took the bike in to have the shifter checked then there must have been a problem. What did they fix, or not tighten after repair/adjusting? If they didn't tighten the shifter I stand corrected. Not lack of attention. Lack of detail.
