Default Just did 1k mile service

I picked up my wide glide from its 1000 mile service today and I cannot believe the difference. It's like a completely different bike. Throttle response is so much better. It shifts a thousand times smoother. I couldn't be happier. It makes me wonder why though. Is the dealer prep just that terrible or is it just the break in period is over now? This is my first Harley so maybe this is just normal. I can't wait to see how it runs after I get the heavy breather installed and a dyno tune next week.

Yeah man, idk if it really made that much of a difference. I just picked up mine last week from its 1k and honestly it felt like it ran worse. I came home and hooked my laptop to the power commander to check the tune because of decel popping, and the mileage has gone down 4mpg since the service.

But hey if your bike runs that great, that is awesome! Happy riding!

Everyone should learn how to do their own services. Save money, wallets won't be as light.

In all seriousness Mogee, if the bike really feels that much better the clutch, throttle and cables probably came out of the service properly adjusted. What else could it be?

Man I don't really know. I thought it might be a little "I just got new shoes so now I can run faster," but the shifting is definitely much smoother. The gears don't shift near as hard. Also the throttle response is much quicker. Just thought I would see if anyone else had a similar experience. It seems there a lot of bash the dealer threads, but so far my dealer has been pretty awesome to deal with.

adjusting the cables that have a tendency to stretch when new along with adjusting the clutch could account for the better response. Changing oil in tranny and primary would account for the smoother shifting. And as mentioned above the HP to weight ratio is better with a lighter wallet

If you switched to Redline transmission and primary fluids the shifting feels quite a bit better.
