Just wondering if anyone is having this problem? I have had the starter replaced and is still doing same problem. When I go to start the bike I push the starter button and starter engages but kills battery to roll starter over and goes dead. Also the battery has been replaced and dealer has done a load test and it comes out fine. Just seems not enough amps to roll starter over to start it. After trying to start it, it finally starts after 2 try's. Bike is going back into dealer tomorrow. They think I have a bent crankshaft. But I would think if that is the case I would have engine noise of rattling. And it only does it after the bike is warmed up. 2012 Wideglide 103"
Stand back about 5 feet and cuss at it a little bit. You'll feel better. The Crankshaft is not the problem. The timing, even from the MOCO could be off. Check that 1st.
Check (retorque) all the connections from the battery to the starter. voltmeter would be handy if you have one.might have a drop across the solenoid,
Mine was doing the same thing.... Wouldn't start till bout the 2nd/3rd try. I started going through things and found that the positive terminal screw was rattling off (good old shaky harley) and was arching. Anyway, I tightened the heck out of it and made sure he negative was tight too and starts right up instantly every time. I guess they need much more volts/battery contact on the first startup of the day.
Always check the basics! Can be easily skipped thinking that its not he problem.
UPDATE: found out the automatic compression releases was not turned on from the factory which created too much pressure after warmed up to roll starter over.
