Resurrecting the Apes with a Fairing Question
Fellas,
More and more I'm leaning towards greater function over fashion. Not to say I don't care how my bike looks - we all do - but every day performance and comfort all day in the saddle take precedence. I'm running a 2011 FXDF with Thunderheader 2-1, Ness BS, TTS Mastertune, 16" BR Custom apes (I'm 6'4" so they're actually barely above the shoulders on me). The only thing I'm not happy with is fatigue from wind on my stomach and for this reason I'm looking into a quarter fairing. People have said they do a pretty good job of alleviating that problem but for some reason I remain skeptical of installing one with apes. I did some research on here but didn't find much more than speculation so I figured I'd start a fresh thread to see if anyone has done this recently. If so can you please share your thoughts and/or pictures. Thanks guys.

The handle bars do not matter. Drag bars... apes... if you put something in front of you that blocks the wind, it will be less pressure on your chest/stomach. I ran a larger fairing with mini apes. I also ran a tiny shield the width of the bars which did the same thing as far as taking the pressure.
