Nice work. +1 on the orange paint.

The front end still needs something. Big front tire, big triple trees, wide handlebars... and a small headlight. Seems like a bigger headlight would tie it all together. How about a Road King head light and shell, maybe like the CVO Road King?

Hell of a bike. Thanks for sharing!

I see that you removed the springs from the seat. Was there a problem or did you not like the feel?

If you were to change out the front end, a springer would be cool.

I have the same seat and springs on my FLD. My scrawny 230lb can't budge them. So why not go solid?

I wanted the seat to sit lower - still need to work on the seat as the front is too high.

Picture whilst bike was in the shop prior to paint and powder coat

Bought a brand new 06 Street Bob and made a few gentle mods

Then decided to do some major changes

200 tires front and back
Replaced hubs to a pair of 18x5.75" rims
Removed rear rails
New triple trees (to accommodate the 200 tire)
Retro seat
And powder coated it matt black

The finish result looked like this

Ran the bike like this for two years or so - opulent if comments about tidying up the bars and cables came from well intentioned members.

So this year took the opportunity to make a few alterations

Foot clutch and jockey shift
Clean up the bars with no electrics
Internal throttle
Internal brake line
Relocate starter to back of solenoid
Custom made bars
Beautiful orange candy metal flake tank, with 19 coats of lacquer to smooth it out
Re-fitted the indicators - under triple trees and two small LEDS under the seat

Finally I think the bike is starting to look almost finished - what do you guys think of the work so far?

Tank, beautiful deep finish - pictures don't do it justice

Hope you enjoy the pics
That is awesome. I like the look.
