Default Why did my bike quit mid ride?

Hey all, was coming back from Sturgis today on my 13' Wide Glide and suddenly my dash lights blinked and then the bike just shut off. I can now sometimes get the lights and dash lights to work but it just makes one click and the lights are gone when I try and start it. Its sounding like a dead battery but why would it suddenly mid ride do that? We rode through heavy fog that was almost like a light rain if that matters. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like a loose battery connection. I had a broken post inside the battery and it would intermittently just die. The battery is part of the over all bike electrical circuit. If you break that circuit the bike will die.

Got it guys thanks for the help! The ground lead on for the battery snapped in half. Just pulled a little extra slack in the line and drilled a hole through lead and screwed it in.
