Maybe the tranny main shaft bearing, It would be spinning with no gears moving to splash the oil around. There I go answering myself again. I gotta stop doing that.

The tranny mainshaft bearing would indeed be turning without the clutch, drive chain, or compensator sprocket leaving it to turn dry. The bearing could spin the oil out in seconds at 10 mph.

I live in an apartment complex and routinely coast when I come home late at night so as not to be a total douchenozzle. Both my sporty and Slim had similar sounds. Hell try your vehicle and you will hear similar sounds just don't lock the steering wheel.

scraping soft grinding noise probably cuased by disc brakes, pad are in constanct light contact with the rotors and make swooshing type sounds , almost like agrinding noise with some pads.

Nothing like reviving a 51 week old thread. That shows some people actually use the search function on this web. I started the thread and had about 3500 miles on the bike when I wrote the thread. I now have about 11,850 on the clock with no bearing going out. I did have the compensator nut back out enough that the primary had to be opened up and the nut re-tightened. Everything is still original except for the rear tire and brake pads.
