thinkin about lowering my FXDXT.... i know, i know... why would i get rid of the fully adjustable rear shocks...? well.... i have had it for 6 months now, and have never even had the thought about trying to... just want the rear en to sit lower...
That being said... i do ride with my girl quite a bit...
lowering is not for everyone, it will ride lots stiffer. My bike rides rough with the burly slammer shocks and bare bones seat, but Ive done a few 600 mile one day trips. its doable but not pleasant. My ideal range is 100 miles or less before my back gets tight.
You could always use lowering blocks to see if you even like it, if you don't your only out $70. If you do like it lower you can always upgrade to lowering shocks later.
Lower your scoot, and you will have reduced suspension travel and cornering clearance.
My Wideglide sits a little high for best looks, but it rides and corners better (before scraping) than my softail. Depends on what you're after. I resolved the issue by having one of each.
I used the Burly 10.5" rear shocks... It's def a noticeably more stiff ride. But it does look bad ***. I haven't noticed too much of an issue w ground clearance in the twisties or the rear bottoming out and I weigh 250 lbs, but then again I never ride 2 up
I just took my 1-3/4" tamarack lowering blocks off of my 2001 fxdwg. re-did my wiring one too many times but my stock shocks suck!
pm me if u want to go the lowering block route. I rode with them for 3 years.
